Here’s a thing that you need to understand about time management – It is all about utilizing our 24 hours wisely.
Whether it be the president of a country, a teacher, a student, a janitor, a weak student, an intelligent student, or whosoever – we all get 24 hours in a day. The only way to be successful is to make the most out of it by proper time management.
Before you begin with the tips, the most important thing that you need to do is to organize your emotions. This is because emotions have the ability to control our minds and day.
Moving on, Here are some tips to manage your time.
1. Have a strong why
To be frank, I don’t think that by simply having a goal or a passion, you can stay consistent with your daily goals. You need to have a sense of responsibilty towards getting a task done.
Having a strong reason behind achieving something will keep us on track even on lazy and bad days.
2. Analyse your 24 hours
If you want to take control of your life then you should to know where you spend your money and dollar everyday.
Do you spend too much time Internet surfing, reading email, Facebook posting, texting, or making personal calls?
It is also possible that you take 1 hour to complete a particular task but you think that it takes you only 30 mins.
Careful analysis of your time can help you direct your energy towards the right task.
3. Setting a time limit
Setting a time to every task will stop you from getting distracted.
For example, if you want to write an article, give yourself two hours. So if you start at 10 am, try to get it written by 12pm.
If you don’t finish it on time, try to complete it in your free time.
4. Plan before hand
With things planning out before hand, you won’t wander aimlessly in the morning.
Instead, with a planned day, You can address the important tasks when you are highly productive.
You can compose the list of jmportant tasks either before going to bed or early in the morning.
5. Start with important tasks
Try to address the difficult the important tasks first thing in the morning. This js because you are highly productive after waking up and the resistance is comparatively low.
6. Try to delegate the Tasks.
If possible, delegate some of your task to a responsible/experienced team member or a freelancer.
This is give you more time to work on important tasks and save you time.
7. Take breaks
Jumping immediately from one task to another seem like a good use of your time, but it can have an opposite effect.
Without that break it’s more difficult to stay focused and motivated as it will recharge our body and clear our mind. During these breaks, You can simply go for a walk, meditate, or just move around for sometime.
8. Follow the Pareto Rule or 80/20 rule
According to this rule, 80% of results come from 20% of our actions.
Try to accomplish first 5 MITs (Most important tasks). This will lower the resistance, and motivate you to complete even more tasks. Thus, enabling you to finish all the tasks in your to-do list.
9. Don’t be a perfectionist
Always remember that perfect does not exist. You cannot complete a task perfectly. There is always a room for improvement.
When you are a perfectionist, you are never satisfied with your work and you will keep going back to it over and over again.
This will decrease your productivity and make you lose interest in accomplishing your goals.
10. Learn to say ‘No’
Many of us are quite hesitant of saying no to other, fearing the uncertainity of other people’s responses. We can often get so busy saying ‘yes’ to others that that we don’t have time for us.
Just remember one thing,
The more time you spend saying ‘yes’ to trivial tasks, you are saying ‘No’ to the important task.
11. Find occasional doses of inspiration
Occasional doses of inspiration are good as it will reignite the fire in you and help you get back on the track. Whenever you feel like you are dragging, watch some motivational youtube videos, or read some biographies.
Some of my favourite youtube channels are – Elonproject, motivationtostudy and impact theory.
The true aim of these time management tips is to be able to change your behaviors over time and to achieve whatever goals that you’ve set for yourself.
